The fabulous Dagmar cross used in this tenner is a stylized reproduction of a Byzantine

cross belonging to the royal family of Denmark, c. 1200 AD. It's commonly held that the original

Dagmar cross was found with the remains of Queen Dagmar of Denmark, however it may actually

have belonged to her husband's (King Valdemar) sister Richiza. The figures on the arms of the

cross are St. John Chrsysostom, St. John the Evangelist, St. Basil and Holy Mary (clockwise from the top).

Copies of this cross are still given in Denmark as gifts for First Communion, Confirmation and to brides.

The Saint Barbara end medal is a very detailed figural bronze piece.
Very rare purple stichtite 12mm bead is double capped in ornate brass, capped again with petal caps and crowned with an additional ring to secure the wire loop.
